About Us:

Kirkstall was founded in November 2006 and is based in Sheffield (UK) within heart of the city’s University Campus.

The company has an exclusive world-wide licence to a patent for a multi-chamber bioreactor (MCB) technology from the University of Pisa (Italy). The MCB is the outcome of over 10 years of research by an interdisciplinary research team in Pisa.  MCB technology lead to the development of Kirkstall’s inter-connected cell culture systems. The systems can be set up so that they will accurately mimic the human metabolism. The result being high quality rather than just high throughput screening.

Kirkstall aims to continue development of a range of products, both instruments and plug-in single-use chambers, for cell culture which will have applications in safety and toxicity screening as well as in stem cell research and tissue engineering.

Kirkstall is sponsforing research at several leading Universities across Europe including Pisa and Sheffield and we are constantly searching for new technologies to add to our portfolio. Please contact our business development manager to discuss how we might work together.

The Kirkstall cell culture system is available in a ‘kit’ format or is accessible on a contract research basis from Kirkstall
