Quasi-vivo® System

Image of Quasi-Vivo Cell Culture Chambers Linked in SeriesKirkstall has recently launched the Quasi-Vivo® 500 Starter Kit for use by the research community. The first product is a flexible R&D system that can be thought of as a ‘Lego Kit’ for cell biologists allowing them to culture cells in an environment which more closely represents the way that cells grow in the human body. The particular features of this Quasi-Vivo® system are:

  • co-culturing of several cell types to allow cell to cell signalling;
  • flow of nutrient media;
  • 3D rather than 2D cell cultures,
  • ability to include tissue slices, scaffolds, and membranes in the culture chambers.

The Quasi-Vivo® 500 kit provides an easy to use tool kit so that experiments can be configured to culture multiple cell types under controlled flow, in your own laboratory.

The system has been designed so that cell biologists who are familiar with the use of multi-well plates for static cell culture will rapidly be able to design experiments that are more physiologically meaningful.

The system enables you to culture multiple cell types in inter-connected culture chambers where the nutrient flow between chambers mimics the role of blood and other body fluids in the body helping to perfuse the cells with oxygen and nutrients and mimicking the complexity of the physiological environment.

The dynamic nutrient flow means that unlike conventional static cell culture, cell to cell signalling is permitted between different cell types, whilst the bio-module design minimises the sheer stress in the cell culture region, improving cell vitality and allowing longer duration experiments.

The Quasi-Vivo® 500 kit comprises:

  • Three modular cell culture chambers
  • Connecting tubes and adaptors
  • Loading tray
  • Glass coverslips
  • Reservoir bottle
  • Mounting tray
  • Miniature peristaltic pump
  • User booklet

Delivered in ready to use sterilised packs.

Full technical support is provided by a dedicated member of Kirkstall’s staff to help you set-up the system in your own laboratory.
